The beauty in the Ugliness: Animal Captivity
“The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but "Can they suffer?” said by Jeremy Bentham, in his book, “The Principles of Morals and Legislation". Captivity has been acknowledged for animals since the beginning of time, how some people abuse animals and maltreat them as if they don’t suffer. Captive Animal Protection Society (CAPS) suggests that captive places especially zoos are miserable for animals. Consequently, animals die prematurely because of their misery. CAPS found out that 40% of lion cups die before one month of age as they suffer. Sadly enough, some animals are taken from the wild to be captivated in boxes where they don’t have a sufficient place to stay in. some other animals never know the meaning of “The Wild” because they were born in a box. Animals are not entertaining creatures for humans, they are not less than us. How come someone becomes a whole human being if they do not believe in animal rights?
