I bet it’s a frequently asked question; “where do we belong?” I asked myself that question, being a university student that goes back and forth between Cairo, where my college is, and El-Arish, where my family lives. I made this trip within myself more than outside on the road and those photographs, in my opinion, were the best answer to my question. A combination of wide spatial places, tenderness of people’s hearts shown on their faces, and the skies that wraps our planet in the most magical colors. This is how I see my home city, as most of the photographs were taken from the balcony of my apartment, they somehow reflect how I see my life there. The last one is taken from my window; but that’s not in Al-Arish, it’s here in Cairo in AUC Zamalek Dorms. Although one can argue that Zamalek is more vivid, colorful and alive, this is how I see it from my dorm’s window; nothing but petrified wood that you struggle to see through.
